Going to the Galapagos

We are taken to the airport by our guide Francisco, who sees us safely onboard our plane to Baltra airport in the Galapagos. We meet our group and I must say never have I seen a more scurvy ridden bunch of scum who will be our companions for the next week.
We hop on a zodiac and are whisked off onto our fine vessel, La Pinta. Immediately the more rebellious in our group were thrown in chains into the bilge, while others were flogged for the least amount of insubordination-Ecuadorean pleasure cruises are real hardcore.
In the afternoon we travel by zodiac to North Seymour island, named after that great American patriot, Oliver North, who even though never having visited the Galapagos, probably wished that he did.
Anyway, this was quite an introduction: the animals here have no fear of man and the sea lions even appear to prefer to mate with human visitors, a shocking example of miscegenation.

We saw numerous iguanas,

sea lions,

frigate birds

and even the eponymous blue footed boobies.

It was like walking into a gigantic open air petting zoo full of the most marvelous and unique animals.

Back on board we were given our daily ration of dry biscuits, salt pork and a tot of rum.
